Academic Visitors Programme
The CCLA hosts an academic visitors programme which anchors its key objective of growing a network of Law experts across the spectrum of African legal cultures. Academic visitors spend a period of time at the CCLA working on issues of mutual interest.
2020 Visiting Scholars
- Dr. Theodore Maiyaki and Dr. Jonathan Bashi Rudahindwa
Dr Theodore Maiyaki from the University of Abuja, Nigeria and Dr Jonathan Bashi Rudahindwa from the Université Protestante au Congo (D.R. Congo), were the centre's visiting scholars in March 2020. In addition to conducting research, Dr Maiyaki and Dr Bashi Rudahindwa presented in the CCLA's new master's course Comparative Business Law in Africa.
2019 Visiting Scholars
- Prof. Papa Sy
Prof. Papa Sy from the Gaston Berger University, in Saint-Louis, Senegal was a visiting Professor at the Centre from September to October 2019, during which time he conducted research.
- Dr. Theodore Maiyaki
Dr. Theodore Maiyaki from the University of Abuja, Nigeria was a visiting scholar at the CCLA from March to April 2019. In addition to conducting research, Dr. Maiyaki presented seminars on Law, regional integration and development in Africa.
2018 Visiting Scholars
- Prof. Peter Akper
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Prof. Peter Akper, from the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) was a visiting scholar at the CCLA in August 2018. In addition to conducting research, Prof. Akper participated in the Comparative Mineral Law in Africa LLM course where he taught classes on artisanal mining in Africa, one of his areas of expertise.
2017 Visiting Scholars
- Prof. Erika George
Prof. Erika George from the University of Utah, USA was a visiting Professor at the Centre from April to June 2017, during which time she co-convened the course on the Law of International Trade.
